The Wave Pool Experience

As part of our ongoing mission to explore and share the best surfing experiences in Tenerife, we had an opportunity to visit Siam Park for a session of wave pool surfing. Here’s an honest review of our adventure, highlighting what you can expect and why it may not be the best value for everyone.

The wave pool package

If you are thinking about surfing in wave pool in Tenerife Siam Park offers this option. It’s an exclusive option for those who would love to have the waves only for themselves. For 600 euros, you can rent Siam Park’s wave pool for an hour after the park’s official closing hours. This package is designed for up to 8 surfers and includes:

Our Honest opinion

As the first wave came, we felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty. The wave was fast and short, so we had to be quick to catch and ride it. We were surprised by how different it felt from the ocean. The waves didn’t have as much power, so we needed big surfboards with lots of volume to catch them. Luckily, there was an alarm before each wave, giving us time to get ready. We could also choose if we wanted the wave to go right or left and split the time to try both.

Pros:

Consistent Waves: The waves were always the same, making it easier and no surprises.

Customizable Waves: We could choose from 5 different wave strengths, perfect for all skill levels. Although they are not strong and big so the only recomenndation is the maximum level.

Private Session: We had the pool to ourselves, so we didn’t have to share the waves.

Snacks and Drinks: We got tasty snacks and drinks waiting for us.

Cons:

Value for Money: The price point of 600 euros for 8 surfers might not be the best value, as it can be difficult for everyone to get enough waves in 1h surfing. We recommend limiting the group to a maximum of 5 surfers or even less.

No Instruction Provided: The absence of surfing lessons or guidance makes this experience unsuitable for beginners.

Recommendations

We suggest booking the wave pool for no more than 5 surfers. This way, everyone gets more time on the waves.

Remember to take the suitable equipment: big boear with lots of volume as the wave doesn’t have so much power as you will expect. Be prepared for a strong paddle and short waves.

If you are new to surfing, the wave pool might be too difficult without lessons. We recommend taking lessons first.
